Outreach Recruiter-Counselor

 

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (extended day as travel dictates with time-adjustment)

 

THIS POSITION IS LISTED UNDER THE ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT. 

Job Description:

The Outreach Recruiter Counselor (Full-time) will travel to middle and high schools in surrounding parishes to identify and select eligible student-participants; assist director and project coordinator to administer intrusive mentoring and advising initiative; conduct monthly workshop/visits scheduled for target-area schools; advocate college access and success, career preparation, and academic persistence; collect and assess student application documents for eligibility and academic need; maintain electronic and folder files on assigned number of participants; assist in collaboration on presentation content for media platforms; assist in college tours/field trips in and out of state; serve as chaperon where/when needed with time adjustment applied; and assist in maintaining viable rapport with school administrators, parents, and students.

Minimal Qualifications:

The applicant must have a Bachelor degree, Master degree preferred; two years professional experience in secondary school or educational setting, or TRIO programs; excellent communication, motivational and team-work skills; experiences in media technology and electronic filing systems; positive and empathetic attitude; and awareness of and sensitive to the needs of first-generation and/or low-income youth as well as the ability to relate to urban and rural youth.  Reliable automobile transportation is necessary for weekly travel duties.
