Deputy Title IX Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Deputy Title IX Coordinator conducts investigations of power-based violence for Southern University and A&M College and the Southern University System Office and assists the Title IX Coordinator with developing and implementing educational programs regarding discrimination and sexual harassment prevention, ensuring students and employees understand their rights and responsibilities under the law. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will be sensitive to students, faculty, and staff, while establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with constituents and colleagues. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator assists in ensuring that the University complies with Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, the Louisiana Campus Accountability and Safety Act, and any other relevant federal or state laws or regulations. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator works cooperatively as a member of the Office for Compliance staff under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance and directly reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance.
Job Description:
- Conducts prompt, thorough, impartial, and equitable investigations of reports of power-based violence for Southern University and A&M College and the Southern University System Office consistent with applicable laws and System and University policy and procedures.
- Responsible for keeping thorough, accurate, comprehensive records related to all assigned case investigations.
- Maintain investigative files.
- Assist the Title IX Coordinator with development, implementation, coordination, and conduction of educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support students and employees of Southern University and A&M College and the Southern University System Office regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, the Louisiana Campus Accountability and Safety Act, any other relevant federal or state laws or regulations, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, System and University policies, and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, and confidential resources, etc.
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and conduct educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support students and employees of Southern University and A&M College’s Department of Athletics regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX of the 1971 Education Amendments, the Louisiana Campus Accountability and Safety Act, any other relevant federal or state laws or regulations, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, System and University policies, and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, and confidential resources, etc.
- Assist the Disability Services Coordinator with disability services testing for students with disabilities who receive testing accommodations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance or System and University policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Master’s degree or above is preferred
- One-year experience in higher education or investigations preferred
