Project Coordinator
Job Description:
The Project Coordinator for the GREEN LAB project at Southern University is a full-time position that is funded by the USDA Forest Service. Under the supervision of Dr. Zhu Hua Ning, Professor and GREEN LAB director, the coordinator will assist the project director in coordinating overall project implementation and subproject progress. Duties includes but not limited to implement project activities, student and community education training, community relations and K-12 student outreach, coordinate tree planting events, training events, tree inventory, planting, maintenance, prepare and submit project report, assist and monitor subproject activities, handle purchasing supplies, student training related travel, and other duties as required by the project director that apply to support of students and success of the project.
Qualifications:
- Urban Forestry knowledge and teaching skill at college level, student recruitment and retention skills, workforce development training for students and community, ability in coordinating students and community participation in project activities.
- Ability to use necessary equipment and tools for tree planting, maintenance, and removal, watering and fertilizing plants, drive van and 4-wheel trucks.
- Doctoral degree in urban forestry or closely related field is desirable
- Expertise in project coordination, project activity organization, implementation, and communication
- Experience in facilitating and implementing student training, community outreach, university processes, and report writing
