Slate CRM Administrator
Job Description:
Southern University and A&M College is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Slate CRM Administrator to manage and enhance the university’s customer relationship management platform (Slate). This position plays a key role in advancing Southern’s enrollment and student engagement strategy by supporting technology-driven solutions that improve recruitment, admissions, data integrity, and interdepartmental collaboration.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management, the Slate Administrator will partner with key stakeholders across Enrollment Management, Information Technology, and academic and student support services to develop, configure, and maintain the Slate environment. The role requires a deep understanding of higher education operations, strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making.
- Administer, configure, and maintain the Slate CRM system, including user roles, permissions, system settings, and data flows.
- Design and implement Slate functionalities including queries, reports, portals, forms, events, email and SMS campaigns, workflows, and application review processes.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders to align Slate functionality with institutional and departmental goals.
- Ensure data quality through imports, audits, deduplication, and record validation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within Slate, manage support requests and escalation protocols.
- Serve as the lead for Slate annual cycle prep, system updates, enhancements, and feature testing.
- Document configurations, automations, and processes, maintain a Slate user manual and change logs.
- Provide individual and group training to users across the institution.
- Work with functional users to understand key processes and recommend system-based improvements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations, increase automation, and improve the user experience.
- Lead the implementation of new modules or integrations with third-party tools.
- Monitor and report on system utilization and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain actionable dashboards, exports, and reports using Slate or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Analyze data to support strategic planning, forecasting, and decision-making within Enrollment Management.
- Support institutional reporting and external surveys through accurate data configuration and export.
- Maintain knowledge of CRM best practices, Slate system enhancements, and higher education technology trends.
- Participate in professional development opportunities (Slate Summit, webinars, conferences)
- Collaborate with IT, Institutional Research, Registrar, Financial Ad, and other offices to ensure a comprehensive, integrated system ecosystem.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience administering Slate CRM or similar systems in a higher education setting
- Strong understanding of CRM design, configuration, and maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to analyze workflows and build data-driven solutions
- Proficiency with reporting and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel)
- Ability to clearly document systems, communicate with stakeholders, and train users
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative and customer-service mindset
- Slate Technolutions certification or formal training
- Familiarity with university admissions and student services operations
- Experience with integration tools and APIs
- Project management experience or professional certification
