STEM/AI Librarian
Job Description:
- Provide specialized reference and research consultation for students, faculty, and researchers in STEM and AI disciplines
- Assist with advanced research strategies, data discovery, and AI-driven research tools tailored for both undergraduate and graduate students
- Work in a collegial, team-based environment alongside librarians, archivists, faculty, and staff
- Develop and deliver workshops, course-integrated sessions, and online learning modules to build STEM and AI information literacy
- Incorporate emerging technologies into instruction
- Select, evaluate, and manage STEM resources, including databases, datasets, journals, and software
- Work with vendors to ensure access to cutting-edge digital tools and resources
- Support faculty and students in managing research data, AI applications, and digital projects
- Provide guidance in areas such as data curation, open science, and use of machine learning in academic research
- Build partnerships with STEM departments, research centers, and student organizations to promote library services
- Serve as liaison to STEM academic programs, fostering collaboration in teaching and research
- Explore, pilot, and integrate AI-driven tools into library services
- Stay informed on developments in emerging technologies, recommending applications relevant to library and campus needs
- Advise faculty and students on open access, copyright, data management plans, and ethical AI use in research and publishing
- Participate in professional organization, workshops, and conferences to maintain expertise in STEM librarianship
- Contribute to library committees and cross-campus initiatives
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (ALA-accredited) or equivalent degree in information/knowledge management
- Coursework, certification, or demonstrated experience in STEM-related librarianship, data services, or AI/digital scholarship
- Minimum of two years of professional experience providing reference, instruction, or research support in an academic, research, or STEM-focused library environment (graduate assistantships or internships may be considered
