Job Summary: The incumbent manages the technical services division within the Law Center Library. Supervises acquisition, receipt, claiming, processing, binding, cataloging, and preservation functions. The incumbent oversees the library's acquisition of books, serials, and other materials, which includes planning, setting up, and modifying the acquisitions, ordering parts of Innovative, and writing and revising policies. Coordinates the receipt, check-in, claiming, duplicate exchange, and routing of serials. Gathers statistical data for various reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises library acquisitions of books, serials, and other materials, including planning for, setting up, and modifying the acquisitions and ordering parts of Innovative; writing and revising policies; monitoring performance of duties; and performing duties as needed.
- Coordinates the receipt, check-in, claiming, duplicate exchange, and routing of serials, including planning for, setting up, and modifying the serials parts of Innovative; writing and revising policies; monitoring performance of duties; and performing duties as needed.
- The manager oversees the bindery operations, which includes the creation and revision of bindery policies and procedures, the instruction of procedures to subordinate staff, the monitoring of duties, and the execution of duties when the serials clerk is not present.
- The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the distribution of mail, which includes the creation and revision of mail distribution policies and procedures, the instruction of procedures to subordinate staff, the monitoring of procedures to ensure adherence to policies, and the performance of necessary duties.
- Supervises cataloging operations, including writing and revising cataloging policies and procedures, teaching procedures to subordinate staff, monitoring performance of duties, and performing duties as needed.
- The manager oversees the processing and withdrawal of library materials, which involves the creation and revision of policies and procedures, the monitoring of duties, and the execution of necessary tasks.
- Supervises the updating of library continuations, which includes writing and revising policies and procedures for updating and filing, monitoring performance of duties, and performing additional tasks as needed.
- Oversee the functions of government documents, including writing and revising processing and withdrawal policies and procedures and monitoring the performance of duties.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned, required, or as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
The individual demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, and possesses the ability to learn and utilize the organization's software applications as needed.
Educational Qualifications
- Master's degree in library science or library and information science preferred
- Two (2) years of experience related to the duties described above
