SUBR | Assistant Basketball Coach | Position: Full-Time | Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 | Application Deadline: December 31, 2025

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Basketball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the basketball program, including coaching, recruiting, academic monitoring, player development, operations, and compliance. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive team culture, promoting student-athlete success, and representing the athletic department with professionalism.

JOB DUTIES:

Coaching & Player Development

  • Assist in planning and conducting daily practices, skill sessions, and game preparation.

  • Provide on-court instruction focused on player development, fundamentals, and position-specific skills.

  • Support the creation and implementation of game strategies, scouting reports, and film reviews.

  • Offer constructive feedback to enhance performance and basketball IQ.

Recruiting

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes in line with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules.
  • Maintain communication with recruits, families, and high school/club coaches.
  • Assist with campus visits, recruiting events, and talent evaluations.

 

Academic Support & Mentorship

  • Monitor academic progress, class attendance, and eligibility.
  • Promote academic accountability, time-management skills, and personal development.
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model.

Operations & Administration

  • Assist with team travel planning, scheduling, equipment inventory, and game-day operations.
  • Support budget management and purchasing procedures.
  • Coordinate film breakdown, analytics, and video software usage.

Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to university, conference, and NCAA rules/regulations.
  • Complete required compliance education and documentation.

Community Engagement

  • Participate in community service initiatives, fundraising events, and program promotions.
  • Represent the program positively on campus and in the community.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree or higher
  • 1-2 years of coaching experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, or equivalent high-level playing experience (college or professional).
