SU master's program nationally recognized

Southern University, Baton Rouge's master's program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction -Special Education Program has received national recognition for meeting all standards set by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Council for Exceptional Children.

"Receiving this recognition means our Special Education Program is a high quality program," said Sheri Anderson, special education program director. "Receiving this recognition serves as a positive recruitment tool."

To receive this recognition, faculty in the Special Education Master's Program had to submit reports showing that they met the 10 standards set forth by NCATE and CEC.

Southern's redesigned Master's of Education - Special Education Program was approved by the Board of Regents in October 2007.
