Southern University to host World Peace Day forum

Southern University will host the 2009 "World Peace: What Does it Mean to You!" forum, at 6 p.m., Thursday, October 1, in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union.

A panel comprised of nine students - three each from Southern, LSU, and Baton Rouge Community College will share their feelings and ideas about promoting world peace. They will also field questions and comments from the audience.

East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden will be the moderator.

World Peace Day was adopted in 1998 in a resolution by the Institute of All Nations, Inc. October 1 is observed as the official World Peace Day in Louisiana and consists of events that support the effort to eliminate violence and promote peace in individuals, families, countries and nations.
