SUNO Basketball to host 'Mid-Knight Madness'

The Southern University, New Orleans (SUNO) basketball programs will hold "Mid-Knight Madness" to introduce the 2009-2010 men's and women's basketball teams to fans. The event will happen on Friday, October 23rd from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in The Castle at 6400 Press Drive.

Members of the men's basketball team are expected to participate in a slam dunk contest and fans will be invited to take part in a "Duggy" (dance) contest.

The event will also consist of introductions of the track & field team as well as recognition of the volleyball team in their inaugural season. The Golden Knights (cheerleaders) and Royal Jewels (dance team) will be introduced as well.

SUNO's basketball season will begin on October 31st when the Knights and Lady Knights travel to Nashville, Tennessee to play Fisk University.

The men's first home game will be on Friday, November 13th against Texas College and the women's first home game will be on November 19th against Judson College.

The Knights are coached by Dale Valdery, who is in his second year at SUNO; and the Lady Knights are coached by Elston King, who is in his 27th year at SUNO.
