Social and Behavioral Science Undergraduate Research Conference set for SU

Southern University's Department of Psychology will host the 11th Annual Social and Behavioral Science Undergraduate Research Conference from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, November 6 in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union.

The conference is being held to provide Southern students with the opportunity to present both empirical and theoretical research papers in the hopes of increasing the number of social and behavioral science majors that conduct research and present their findings at professional conferences.

Ten students from the Social and Behavioral Sciences will present 15-minute presentations, including a question and answer period.

Some topics covered during the conference will be:

* The effects of free recall on memory

* Factors affecting substance and alcohol abuse among college students

* State politics of Black mayors on economic growth in urban or major cities

The conference will be insightful and beneficial to high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students, guidance counselors, college recruiters, professionals in the field of science and members of the community.
