SUNO students move into its first housing complex

After more than 50 years, Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) took a monumental step toward becoming a residential campus with the opening of its Student and Faculty Housing complex. Residents started moving in January 4.

Chancellor Victor Ukpolo says that 244 units

are available, and the rest will be ready in August. Ukpolo says about 120 students have signed up for apartments. The rent is $632 per student per month for a two-bedroom apartment and $438 per student per month for a four-bedroom flat.

The official grand opening of SUNO’s Student and Faculty Housing was held on Monday, January 8.
