Annual Health Disparities Research Symposium set

The Southern University Student Health Center will host its annual Spring Wellness Fair on Wednesday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Lobby of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union.

The fair will offer a number of services, including: confidential HIV testing; blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screening; diabetes screenings; eye screenings; clinical breast exams; height, weight and BMI measurements; nutrition education; mental and physical health appraisals.

There will also be stations for blood donation and plasma donation information.

Participating sponsors for the health fair include: SU Student Health Center, SU Feel Good/ Feel Safe HIV/AIDS Awareness Program, SU School of Nursing and Jag Mobile, SU Intramural Sports, SU HIV/AIDS Prevention Program for Young Women, SU Counseling Center, SU Advocates for Youth HBCU Initiative for HIV/Awareness Among Young Women for Color, SU Human Nutrition and Food Program, SU Police Department, Metro Health, Planned Parenthood, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Baton Rouge Sickle Foundation, National Bone Marrow Registry, LifeSource Blood Center, Walmart Vision Center, Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge, Talecrise Plasma Donation Center, Capital City Family Health Center, and HealthSouth Diagnostic Center.

This event is free and open to all Southern students, faculty and staff.
