Southern University set to host annual Honors Convocation
The theme is "Honoring Intellectual Achievement." Students from all of the University's Colleges who have achieved academic success during the year will be honored.
Students who have successfully accomplished a G.P.A. of 3.0 or above will be recognized. The highest award to be announced will be the Chancellor's Scholar.
Students who apply for the Chancellor's Scholarship must submit a packet which includes their academic transcript, resume, and letters of recommendation.
They will then be interviewed by the Academic Honors Committee who grades upon their communication skills, knowledge of current events, and interpretation from letters of recommendation. The student who best meets the requirements will receive the scholarship.
Mwalimu J. Shujaa, provost and executive vice chancellor for the Baton Rouge campus, will be the convocation speaker.
There will be between 400 to 500 students, along with parents, in attendance.
