NO mayor to serve as SUNO's commencement speaker

Mitch Landrieu, mayor of the City of New Orleans and former Louisiana Lt. Governor, will serve as speaker for Southern University at New Orleans' 2010 Commencement, Saturday, May 8, at the UNO Lakefront Arena.

Mayor Landrieu took the oath of office at his inauguration ceremony in New Orleans, Monday, May 3.

As Lt. Governor, Landrieu was responsible for tourism, the state's second largest industry.

He is the brother of U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu and the son of former New Orleans mayor Maurice "Moon" Landrieu.
