Southern University System receives contribution from Kellogg's

The Southern University System recently received a contribution of $20,000 from Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund. The contribution will be used for educational purposes throughout the University.

"We are grateful to Kellogg's for their continued support of the Southern University System, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them," said Ronald Mason Jr., president of the Southern University System. "Kellogg's has been a strong supporter of education, and we are appreciative of their willingness to assist the Southern System in providing optimal educational opportunities for the next generation."

The Kellogg Company focuses on three major areas for corporate giving: helping children and youth reach their full potential, increasing opportunities for women and minorities, and building stronger communities.

"Kellogg Company's founder, W.K. Kellogg, said, 'Education offers the greatest opportunity for really improving one generation over another,'" said Celeste Clark, Kellogg Company senior vice president, public policy and external affairs. "This spirit is still alive at Kellogg through our continuing scholarship support to Southern University. We know our grant will enable talented young people the opportunity to pursue their dreams."

Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund is the charitable arm of the Kellogg Company, and the founding sponsor of the World of Children Awards. With 2009 sales of nearly $13 billion, Kellogg Company is the world's leading producer of cereal and a leading producer of convenience foods.

The Southern University System is the nation's only historically black university system with five campuses throughout Louisiana.
