SU inviting high school juniors, seniors, BRCC students to 'open house'

Southern University is inviting high school juniors, seniors, and their parents to an "Open House" to get vital information about college entrance requirements, financial aid, and courses of study on the Baton Rouge campus.

Military veterans, students transferring from Baton Rouge Community College, and other community colleges, along with non-traditional students, are also urged to attend the event set for 6 p.m., November 9 in the W.W. Stewart Hall auditorium.

The Open House will be especially beneficial to 11th and 12th graders still trying to determine their majors and where they will be going to college.

There will be presentations about state-mandated course requirements needed to enter college, housing, how to complete applications for financial aid, academic scholarships, other forms of financial assistance, and how to make the transition from a community college to a four-year institution.

The program is being sponsored by Southern's Office of Enrollment Management. For more information call Michelle Hill, interim vice chancellor for enrollment management, at 225.771.5020, or Nathaniel Harrison, interim director of admissions andr ecruitment, at 225.771.2430.
