Tropical Storm Karen update

National Hurricane Center forecasters expect Tropical Storm Karen to be near the central Gulf Coast on Saturday as a weak hurricane or tropical storm. A tropical storm watch is in effect from west of Grand Isle to east of Morgan City, an area that includes metropolitan New Orleans, Lake Maurepas, and Lake Ponchartrain.

Tropical storm force winds will be anticipated late Saturday into Sunday along the extreme southeast coast of Louisiana including the New Orleans area.

Our Emergency Preparedness Teams are in contact with local and state agencies and, if necessary, will enforce emergency plans to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and the SU community.

At this time, we don't expect TS Karen to affect campus operations. SUNO's Saturday classes will be held as scheduled. All SUNO students, faculty and staff are asked to monitor their University email accounts, the University's social media sites, and local news to get updates concerning classes and announcements.

Please stay tuned to the local media for weather updates and check for announcements on www.sus.edu.
