SUBR receives $250K award for global water research with Africa

Southern University Baton Rouge's Patrick Mensah has been honored twice in recent weeks for his efforts in the area of engineering.

Mensah, a professor in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, is one of 33 scholars who were named fellows and chosen to assist in developing an engineering curriculum at Ashesi University in Ghana, Africa.

He will be part of a $250,000 award from the National Science Foundation to a lead a global research project on sustainable water purification. The International Research Experience for Students (IRES) award will fund the project through 2017.
