SU Foundation 'Million Dollar March' raises $1.1 million

The Southern University System Foundation's (SUSF) "Million Dollar March," fundraising campaign launched July 1, 2014, raised $1,106,333 in cash contributions.

The viral fundraising campaign featured campaign volunteers and the business community securing philanthropic contributions to support the five campuses of the Southern University System. More than 100 volunteer campaign captains solicited contributions via email, text, and social media post for the 90-day period. The Million Dollar March Campaign ended with a one-day giving blitz October 1, 2014. The SU System Foundation will make a special presentation to the University Saturday, October 4, 2014, during the homecoming football game halftime show.

"Special thanks to all donors and campaign volunteers. Without your investments and valued support, this would not have been possible," said Alfred Harrell, executive director, SUSF.

The Southern University System Foundation has already increased philanthropic contributions by 66 percent this calendar year. The Foundation and its team of volunteers are committed in helping to address the challenging financial needs of the Southern University System and its campuses.

The Mission of the Southern University System Foundation is to promote the educational and cultural welfare of the SU System by generating annual reoccurring financial support for its five campuses and the greater community.
