Southern University System Foundation to launch Million Dollar March, July 23

The Million Dollar March (MDM) endeavors to bring campaign volunteers and the business community together to secure philanthropic contributions to support the five campuses of the Southern University System. More than 100 volunteer campaign captains will solicit contributions via email, text, and social media posts for the 90-day period. The MDM Campaign will end on October 1, 2015, with a one-day giving blitz. This years campaign goal is to raise $2 million dollars during the 90-day campaign cycle. The amount raised will be announced on Saturday, October 17, 2015, during the homecoming football game halftime show.
"The SU System Foundation and its Board of Directors will once again mobilize a capable corps of fundraising volunteers for the Million Dollar March with an achievable goal to raise $2 million for Southern University. The campaign engages a diverse group of dedicated individuals working together to help build up the SU System and nourish its mission," said Southern University President-Chancellor Ray L. Belton.
The Southern University System Foundation has already raised $2.8 million in cash philanthropic contributions this calendar year; representing a 75 percent increase versus this time last year. The Foundation and its team of volunteers are committed in helping to address the challenging financial needs of the Southern University System and its campuses.
The Mission of the Southern University System Foundation is to promote the educational and cultural welfare of the SU System by generating annual reoccurring financial support for its five campuses.
