SU System announces search committee for Ag Center Chancellor

The committee, comprised of a diverse group of faculty, staff, and stakeholders, is charged with assisting the SU System with selecting a replacement for Leodrey Williams, who retired last June after more than 40 years of service, and as chancellor since the SU Ag Center campus was established in 2001.
Kirkland Mellad, vice chancellor for research, emeritus, SU Ag Center, and former dean for the College of Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, SU Baton Rouge (SUBR), will chair the search committee. Gina Eubanks, vice chancellor for extension, SU Ag Center and associate vice president, LSU Ag Center, will serve as co-chair.
Other committee members include Kamran Abdollahi, program leader and graduate director, urban forestry and natural resources, SUBR/SU Ag Center; Winzer Andrews, retired area economic development specialist, LSU Agricultural Research and Extension Center; Linda Batiste, director for finance, SU Ag Center; Deacue Fields, SU Ag Center’s representative to the Council for Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching (CARET); Sebhatu Gebrelul, professor, sustainable agriculture program, SUBR/SU Ag Center; Lee A. Hampton, retired county agent, St. Landry Parish; Allison Johnson, USDA Program Liaison; Bernestine B. McGee, professor and program leader, Human Nutrition and Food Program, SUBR; Dawn Mellion-Patin, president, faculty staff council, agricultural specialist, Southern University Ag Center; Patricia Meyinsse, professor, agricultural economics; C. Reuben Walker, chair, Department of Agricultural Sciences and Urban Forestry/SU Ag Center; Terry Washington, county agent, Rapides Parish, SU Ag Center; and Ray L. Belton, System president-chancellor, ex-officio.
The SU Ag Center Search Committee will hold its initial meeting January 13, 2016, in A. O. Williams Hall, SU Ag Center, Room 191, at 3 p.m.
