SU Shreveport Chancellor Search Committee announces six semi-finalists
Willie C. White III, chief executive officer, David Raines Community Health Centers and chairman of the committee, reported that the following applicants have been selected as the top candidates to replace the previous chancellor, Ray L. Belton, who became SUS president-chancellor in July 2015:
Rodney Ellis, higher education consultant and former chancellor of Central Louisiana Technical and Community College in Alexandria, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa), a master of science from Auburn University (Montgomery), and a doctor of education from the University of Georgia (Athens).
Aubra Gantt, vice president for academic outreach and student services, Tarrant County College District, is a graduate of Southern University Baton Rouge.
She has a master of social work from SUNO, and a doctor of education from the University of North Texas.
Johnny Moore, vice president student and outreach services, Northeast Texas Community College, has a bachelor of science from Philander Smith College. He holds a master of science from Arkansas State University, and a doctor of philosophy from Florida Institute of Technology.
Elizabeth D. Swinford, superintendent of schools, Tuscaloosa County School System, has a bachelor of arts degree from Interamerican University, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a master of science and an Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University.
Sandra Tucker, dean, School of Nursing, Bethune-Cookman University, has a bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). She has a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and a Ph.D. in nursing research from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).
Boyce Williams, president and chief executive officer, The National Alliance of Learning, Incorporated, has a bachelor of arts from Lincoln University (Pennsylvania), and a master of arts and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
The search committee will interview semifinalists, at its next meeting, January 29, 2016, in Shreveport.
