2016 FLOODING RECOVERY SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY: WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Q: Did the SU campuses flood?

A: No. Southern University campuses in Baton Rouge and its surrounding community did not flood or sustain any damage.

Q: Are SU campuses in Baton Rouge secure?

A:

Yes, the campus is prepared for the fall semester. If you have questions, please call our SUBR Emergency Operations: 225-771-3784.

Q: Are students being allowed to move into residential facilities?

A: Yes, all students who have housing assignments for the fall semester are being granted access to their assigned living area.

Q: Are campus dining services available?

A: Yes, campus dining services are fully operational.

Q. When do faculty report?

A: All University employees are scheduled to report on Thursday, August 18, 2016.

Q. When is the first day of class?

A. The first day of class for SUBR is Monday, August 22, 2016.

Registration will held Friday, August 19, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday, August 20, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

SULC classes begin Thursday, August 18.

Q. When is Academic Convocation for SUBR?

A:

SUBR Academic Convocation will be scheduled later during the semester.

Q. Who should SU employees contact for information.

A: Please contact your supervisor or Lester Pourcaiu, associate vice president for human resources, at lester_pourcaiu@sus.edu or 225-771-2680.

If you have suffered damage and have been displaced by the recent floods, it is imperative that you sign up for disaster assistance at FEMA’s website, www.disasterassistance.gov. It is imperative that you do this immediately.

When you register, you will be given a FEMA identification number which you should forward to Mr. Lester Pourciau, associate vice president for human resources, who has been designated to receive this information at: lester_pourciau@sus.edu.

All employees should contact their respective supervisors to report their status.

Q: I cannot come to work, what are my leave options?

A. Please contact the Office of Human Resources at 225-771-2680.

Q. I need additional assistance, who can I contact?

A. For now, contact FEMA at 1-800-621-3362, download the FEMA app or go to www.disasterassistance.gov.

Q. I am a student that was displaced, is there any assistance for students that do not live on campus?
