SU officials respond to flooding in Cade Library; BR campuses open

During recent inclement weather, including extended hard freezes, a major water line supplying chilled water to the mechanical room on the rooftop of the John B. Cade Library on the Baton Rouge main campus ruptured. There is flooding in the building. Please avoid the area while maintenance crews are currently assessing the situation and coordinating remediation and water extraction.

The University will announce temporary provisions for library services while the John B. Cade Building is off line.

SU System campuses in Baton Rouge are open. The overpass at Harding Boulevard and Scenic Highway remains closed. Access campus from Swan Street and Mills Avenue.

Southern University New Orleans will remain closed today due to low water pressure in the metro area. All locations of Southern University Shreveport will be closed today except the downtown airport site.

Students, faculty, and staff are asked to monitor their University email accounts, the University's social media sites, and local news to get updates and announcements.

Please go to 511la.org for any state road closures and do not move or drive around any barricades. They are there for a reason.
