Assistant Professor of English
Job Description:
The successful candidates will teach Freshman Composition and undergraduate courses in English, including introductory and upper-level classes in African American literature. Preference for candidates with the experience, ability, and qualifications to teach African American literature. The successful candidate will have a 4/4 teaching load, develop and/or maintain a record of scholarship in her/his field of study, serve on departmental, college, and university committees, learn and employ instructional technology in all courses (in face to face, hybrid, and online modalities), participate in university functions (including student recruitment, advisement, and mentoring), and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in Literature with concentration in African American Literature and experience teaching college level courses. ABD candidates with a firm dissertation defense date may be considered. Additional qualifications: experience teaching general education courses, evidence of a professional research agenda, knowledge of the application of technology to enhance teaching and learning, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
