Job Description:
Serves as the front-line person at the cashier's office and on phone calls to assist students/parents. Responsibilities include accepting payments, preparing deposits for the bank, assisting students with completing the enrollment process, reconciling cash receipts, and preparing bank deposit tickets. Performs miscellaneous duties in connection with the billing process and serves as a key individual interacting with students and parents. This position is a direct customer-facing, fast-paced position. The ideal candidate must have a pleasant personality, with cash-handling experience, and the ability to work professionally amongst a diverse population of people. The Bursar’s Office maintains a professional environment.
Job Duties:
- Receives payments by cash, credit cards, and money orders
- Enters cash receipts and billing transactions into the college’s system
- Performs extensive customer service by responding to customer inquiries face-to-face and via the telephone. Maintains knowledge of university detail codes related to cash, receivable, and miscellaneous transactions to verify appropriate data entry
- Verifies charges, payments, and adjustments made to student accounts are accurate and posted promptly.
- Scans checks to the bank daily and ensures that all deposit balances are at the end of the day
- Receives departmental deposits and ensures that all posting is timely
- Serves as the first point of contact for the student accounts office
- Responds professionally and courteously to all inquiries from all University customers and constituents
- Performs other related duties as assigned. General Office Support Related to Student Accounts
- Assists in ongoing internal audit of accounts, ensuring continued accuracy
- Maintains student e-mail account by reading and responding to emails, deleting junk mail, or forwarding messages to appropriate departments when necessary
- Sorts and distributes mail, answers phone calls, and monitors and responds to emails.
Minimal Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
