JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Coordinator of Student Programs/Activities assists in the management of the Student Union, a comprehensive department that provides facilities, programs, and services in support of the University's mission and campus community. This position oversees evening and weekend operations of the Student Union, ensuring exceptional customer service, effective facility management, and proactive technical support. The Coordinator supervises the daily operations of the Student Union recreation areas, including the bowling alley, oversees custodial and student employees, and helps maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. This position is also responsible for supporting facility security, coordinating emergency response procedures when necessary, and performing other related duties as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the daily management and operation of the Student Union, ensuring quality customer service, continuity of operations, and effective facility oversight during evening and weekend hours.
- Coordinate and support campus events by providing pre-event planning, technical assistance, audio-visual support, room setups, furniture arrangements, and event breakdown.
- Supervise custodial services and monitor facility safety, security, and crowd management while ensuring compliance with Student Union policies and procedures.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues, customer concerns, and facility-related challenges using sound judgment and effective problem-solving skills.
- Manage the daily operations of Student Union recreational services, including the bowling alley, game room, billiards, table tennis, gaming consoles, tournament gaming, and other recreational programming.
- Maintain recreation equipment, inventory, and the Event Management System (EMS), ensuring facilities, resources, and reservations are properly managed and operational.
- Recruit, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate student managers, event support staff, and student employees while providing leadership and promoting exceptional customer service.
- Secure the Student Union at the close of operations by ensuring all spaces are cleared, equipment is secured, facilities are locked, and emergency procedures are followed when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Public Administration, Recreation Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Experience in student programming, student affairs, campus activities, event management, facility operations, or community engagement in a college or university setting.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Public Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of professional experience in student programming, student affairs, campus activities, facility operations, event management, or a related functional area in a college or university setting.
- Experience supervising student employees and coordinating campus events and recreational programming.
