Ms. Dana Bailey

Dana M. Bailey is a dedicated student leader and aspiring political figure at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO), where she is pursuing degrees in Social Work and Public Administration. Dana currently serves as the President of the Student Government Association (SGA) and is the first to serve two consecutive terms in this role. She is also the Founder of Black Bands Are Essential, an initiative that uplifts and supports HBCU bands across the nation.
Dana is the Founder of the Knights Ambassadors, a student-led organization at Southern University at New Orleans, focused on recruitment and retention. She has gained valuable experience through internships with the Department of Children and Family Services as part of the Governor Fellows Program and with the New Orleans Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit.
Dana is the first recipient from Southern University at New Orleans to be recognized as a White House HBCU Scholar, a Thurgood Marshall College Fund Yard Ambassador and Influencer, and a member of the Governor Fellows Program. She is also a proud member of Nu Phi Omicron Fraternity, Inc. (a music fraternity), Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Alpha Honor Society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Dana implemented the Student Above and Beyond Award, aimed at highlighting exceptional students across the Southern University System for their academic and leadership achievements.
Dana is committed to diversity, inclusion, and social justice, and is using her leadership skills to create a lasting impact on her community and beyond.
