Mr. Henry Whitehorn

He currently serves as the Sheriff-Elect for Caddo Parish. He was elected on March 23, 2024.

Prior to this he served as the Chief Administrative officer for the City of Shreveport from February 2020 to December 2022. He retired as the United States Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana after almost 10 years of service on January 31, 2020. He was recommended for this key federal position in Louisiana's Western District by Senator Mary Landrieu and nominated by President Barack Obama. The nomination was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate. Marshal Whitehorn served in that position beginning July 12, 2010, after previously serving as the Chief of Police for Shreveport Louisiana. Whitehorn served as the Chief of Police for the City of Shreveport from August 2007 to July 2010. Prior to being appointed Chief of Police he served as the Deputy Secretary for Public Safety Services and the Louisiana State Police Superintendent. A member of the State Police force from 1978 to 2007, Whitehorn served as a Trooper, Narcotics Trooper, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel and finally Superintendent. Prior to his State Police service, he also served as a patrolman with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. He is a United States Air Force veteran who served his country honorably from 1973 to 1977. Whitehorn graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University- Shreveport and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University. He has completed numerous law enforcement schools, including the FBI National Academy (170th Session) and the FBI National Executive Institute (28th Session). In addition, he has completed coursework at Harvard Kennedy School.
