The Southern University University System is the only system of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the nation. With its first campus founded in 1880, the system has grown expenitiouslly to include five campuses in the three largest cities in Louisiana: Baton Rouge, the capital city; New Orleans and Shreveport.
