SU to host elected officials conference Feb. 25

The Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs at Southern University, Baton Rouge, will sponsor a statewide elected officials' conference in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union on Friday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
SU System hires search firm for next chancellor

The Southern University System (SUS) has contracted DHR, the fifth largest retained executive search firm in the nation, to assist in the search for its next chancellor of the Baton Rouge campus.

SUNO chancellor to hold press conference

Chancellor Victor Ukpolo of Southern University, New Orleans (SUNO), will address the media on Wednesday, January 26 at 11:30 a.m. in the Health and Physical Education Building, room 204 on the campus, about Gov. Bobby Jindal's proposal to merge SUNO and the University of New Orleans.

SUNO anticipates Spring 2011 enrollment to represent 67% post-Katrina increase

Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) preliminary figures for Spring 2011 indicate that the University will once again attain the highest enrollment since Katrina. The preliminary enrollment is currently at 3,409 students. The final official numbers will be confirmed on February 4, which is the final day for tuition payments. SUNO's enrollment is 1,372 students over its post-Katrina level of 2,037 in Spring 2006, representing an impressive 67 percent increase since the storm. Prior to Katrina, SUNO had 3,647 students enrolled, and the current preliminary figures would represent a 93 percent recovery of the pre-Katrina levels.
SU Marching Band's drumline headed to Morocco

Southern University Marching Band's drumline will soon be on its way to
captivate audiences in the North African countries of Morocco and
Algeria.
Fourteen members of the famous "Human Jukebox" band will be performing
in theaters, a children's center, sporting events, a morning television
show and conducting workshops for young drummers, while touring cities
in the two countries.
