Movie director and producer John Singleton, who rocketed to national attention with his first movie "Boyz n the Hood," will speak at Southern University Baton Rouge at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013,

in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union.

With 119,636 votes cast, Southern University's M-9 student cheering section claims 16th place to advance to the second round of voting in the Naismith Student Section of the Year Award. It's Super Bowl time again for the world famous Southern University Marching Band.

The band, nicknamed the "Human Jukebox," will perform in New Orleans during pre-game activities of Super Bowl XLVII being held February 3, 2013, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.This will mark the fourth Super Bowl performance for the SU marching band.
