SU System announces search committees for Law Center and Shreveport campus leaders

Overall enrollment for the SU System increased by 490 students (12,884), nearly four percent.
Bayou Classic signs extension with NBC Sports Group; new kickoff time for annual football contest

The Bayou Classic team announced August 3, 2015, that the 42nd Annual Bayou Classic will once again be broadcast on NBC, but this year will move to the broadcast company’s cable network – NBC Sports Network. Also new for 2015, the kickoff time for the Annual Bayou Classic has been moved from its traditional 1:30 pm CST to a new kickoff time of 4:00 pm CST.
SU alum, businessman Leon Valdry makes $100,000 gift to SUSF

Leon Valdry, a 1957 SU engineering graduate, March 21, 2015, made a unrestricted gift of $100,000 to the Southern University System Foundation's 1880 Society. Last calendar year, Valdry's annual gift totaled $25,000.

SUNO Women's Basketball claim first-ever win in three trips to the NAIA National Championship

Seventh-seeded Southern New Orleans, Wednesday, March 18, 2015, became the second team to win its first-ever game at the national championship, as the Lady Knights upset perennial powerhouse and No. 2-seed Vanguard (California), 84-56, in the final day-one game of the 2015 NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship, presented by Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City.

SUNO Child Development and Family Studies Program earns AAFCS accreditation

The Council for Accreditation of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) has granted accreditation to the Child Development and Family Studies Department at Southern University New Orleans (SUNO). The accreditation is granted until 2024.
