Graduates of the Southern University Baton Rouge Class of 1964 are planning a golden anniversary celebration May 8-9, 2014.
The commemoration will be in conjunction with the University's Centennial Celebration for the Baton Rouge campus. The University was founded in New Orleans in 1880 and was relocated to Scott’s Bluff in Baton Rouge in 1914.

Sam Albert Gilliam most recently served as the Interim Chancellor at Southern University in Shreveport (appointed July 1, 2015). He is also, a former member of the Southern University Board of Supervisors (2000 thru 2006) where he served as Chairman of the Board from 2004 thru 2006. He also, served as Interim Chancellor (1998-99) and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs (1990-98 & 1982-88) at Southern University at Shreveport.

BASF donates $25,000 to SU for multi-purpose technology center

A $25,000 donation from BASF will fund a new multi-purpose technology center at Southern University Baton Rouge. The new facility will add advanced capabilities to the University's Career Services Center -- such as virtual interviewing and remote training opportunities -- that will benefit not only students and alumni, but also potential employers.
At a Southern University football game November 15, 2014, BASF presented the University with a $25,000 donation for the creation of a multi-media technology center.

Alum Receives Holmes Scholar Award (News)
The talent Southern University Law Center produces follows our alumni wherever they choose to go, and no matter the career path they choose to pursue. Such is true for SULC graduate, Shawnita L. Pettaway. Pettaway was recently recognized as the Holmes Scholar of the Month. As a native of Mobile, AL, and a current Ph.D. Candidate at Auburn University, Pettaway receives this prestigious award in light of her current research focusing on administrative law, higher education law, human resources, public policy, historically black colleges and universities, and the higher education professoriate.
