Bernette J. Johnson, the first African-American Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court, will be the commencement speaker at Southern University's graduation ceremonies.
Commencement begins at 10:30 a.m., on May 17, and will be held in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Board of Regents approves SUNO's plan to develop Doctor of Social Work Program (News)
The Louisiana Board of Regents has approved a letter of intent from Southern University New Orleans (SUNO) to establish a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Program. The degree program would fulfill a need in the profession and the region for an on-site advanced practice doctoral program in social work.
