SUNO to hold free summer science programs for students and teachers

(SUNO) will hold three free summer science enrichment programs for K
through 12 students as well as high school teachers. The deadline to
register for the programs is Monday, May 23, 2011, 5 p.m.
The Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives to host Career Day, May 17
May 12, 2011
The Southwest Center for Rural
Initiatives Y.E.S. After-School program will host a Career Day on
Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. for enrolled students ages
6-14. Local professionals from various career fields will participate
and provide hands-on demonstrations, including a police officer, a
fireman, entrepreneurs, a beautician, a judge, a chef, a funeral
director, an attorney, a coach, a doctor, and a dentist.
SUNO receives outstanding feedback on SACS accreditation visit

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) held its on-site visit of Southern University, New Orleans (SUNO) March 2-4, 2011. The on-site committee report, which the University just received on Thursday, May 5, indicates that SUNO is in compliance with all SACS standards with no recommendations for corrective action.
SU Ag Center to hold child care training, May 20-21

Center invites all Louisiana child care providers to attend a training
session, May 20-21, in Baton Rouge. Participants will receive up to nine
hours of new ideas, and discover new and exciting programs. As
providers, this training is an opportunity to leap into childcare
training for you or your staff and gain basic or advance skills.

Federal judge to address 2011 SULC Commencement, May 14

United States District Court, Middle District of Louisiana, will deliver
the 2011 Commencement address for Southern University Law Center at 10
a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the F.G. Clark Activity Center on the
Southern University, Baton Rouge campus.
SUNO to hold ribbon cutting for Information Technology Center and Support Our Southern launch

Southern University, New Orleans, (SUNO), will cut the ribbon for its Information Technology Center on Wednesday, March 16 at 11 a.m. in front of the building on the Lake Campus at 6801 Press Drive.
The University will also hold the Support Our Southern SUNO launch as a part of the program.
