The 2011 Southern University National Alumni Conference continues through July 10 in Baton Rouge. This year's conference, "Bringing it Back to the Bluff," marks the return of the annual meeting to Baton Rouge, for the first time in 16 years.

The closing event and awards presentation of the 11th Annual Minority Law and Research Institute will be held at the Southern University Law Center, 130 A. A. Lenoir Hall, at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 30.

Youth across Louisiana will have the time of their life as they interact with each other for two days of exciting seminars, exhibits, demonstrations, healthy competitions, and presentations.

Gala will help benefit the Southern University Department of Athletics. The Southern University Department of Athletics will hold its first Red Carpet on the Bluff Gala, June 17, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the A.W. Mumford Fieldhouse, on the Southern campus.

Frazier Hall who played first base for the Jaguars was picked by the Los Angeles Angels in the 16th round of day two of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft and pitcher Cody Hall was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 19th round.

For the second year in a row, Southern University, New Orleans (SUNO) has been ranked #1 in campus safety with a 98.18 safety rating among Louisiana colleges and universities by StateUniversity.com. The University is ranked #19 in the U.S. by the Web site, up from 20th in 2009. The campus safety report is based on incidents reported by campus safety officials.

Southern University, Baton Rouge's Frazier Hall added a big honor to his growing resume', as he was named third team Louisville Slugger All-American on June 2, 2011.
