Rear Admiral William D. Baumgartner, a U.S. Coast Guard Judge Advocate General, recently met with officials at Southern University to discuss career opportunities for students in the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Southern University Student Health Center will be hosting a Fall Wellness Fair that will include blood pressure screening and H1N1 Flu registration, along with cholesterol and glucose screening. The Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 13, in the Smith- Brown Memorial Student Union.

Miss Black Louisiana USA 2008-2009 and Southern alumnus, Tiffany Lloyd, will be the grand marshal of Southern University, Baton Rouge's annual homecoming parade Saturday, Oct. 17.
