SU and Mentorship Academy form an abiding relationship

Southern University is expanding its footprint to downtown Baton Rouge
through a partnership with Mentorship Academy. Entering into its second
year, the partners signed a three-year agreement to share space at the
Mentorship Academy which is located in a six-story downtown building and
in an adjacent annex where additional student services are offered.
SU Shreveport cuts ribbon on new classroom building
August 17, 2017
Southern University Shreveport, Thursday, August 17, 2017, cut ribbon on the first new classroom building on the main campus since the 1950s. The recently constructed $7.5 million, 36,000-square-foot learning facility is named in honor of the late State Senator Alphonse Jackson, a long-time legislator, community organizer, and Southern University advocate.

SU College of Nursing in HBCU Awards spotlight

For the second time in two years, the Southern University Baton Rouge (SUBR) College of Nursing and Allied Health claimed a HBCU Award for "Best Nursing Program," and Cheryl Taylor, chairperson, Graduate Nursing Programs, and director, Office of Nursing Research won the "Female Faculty Member of the Year," honor, during an awards dinner, July 14, 2017, at the Gallup Building in Washington, D.C.
