South African Ambassador honored at March meeting of Board of Supervisors (News)
The Southern University System Board of Supervisors at its March meeting honored retiring South African Ambassador Mninwa J. Mahlangu for his years of service in the U.S. and connection to Southern University. The ambassador delivered the spring 2017 commencement address at Southern University Baton Rouge. He received an honorary doctorate during the ceremony.

The Southern University System (SUS) today selected M. Christopher Brown II as the new executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. Brown has more than 10 years of experience in higher education administration including serving as president of Alcorn State University in Mississippi, and as executive vice president and provost at Fisk University in Tennessee.

SU System announces search committee for SUNO chancellor
(News)
A search committee comprised of a diverse group of administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders will screen and recommend final candidates for the position of chancellor for Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO).
The SUNO Search Committee will assist the Southern University (SU) System with selecting a replacement for Victor Ukpolo who steps down June 30, 2016.
The 17-member search team will be co-chaired by Charles Rice, CEO of Entergy New Orleans, and Gloria B. Moultrie, vice chancellor for community outreach and University advancement, SUNO.
