Longtime Southern University administrator and ardent University supporter Elton C. Harrison died September 20, 2014. He was 97 and a resident of Baton Rouge.
Harrison served as vice president of Academic Affairs and was a former member of the Southern University Board of Supervisors.

Southern University System recently received a $42,500 grant from the
U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide technical business training in
rural communities throughout the state. The U.S. Department of
Agriculture awarded $212,500 in grants to support workforce training in
Louisiana.

states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands to receive
one of the U.S. Department of Labor’s $73.6 million in YouthBuild
grants to support academic and occupational skills training for at-risk
youth.
