The Southern University Alumni Federation will host a leadership summit, June 7-8, 2013, at Southern University New Orleans.
The two-day meeting in New Orleans replaces the 2013 national conference. The 2014 SUAF National Alumni Conference is scheduled for July 9-13, 2014, in Houston, Texas.

Southern moves closer to finalizing contract for Medical Marijuana Program (News)
Baton Rouge, La. - Southern University is currently in the process of finalizing its contract with Lafayette based Advanced Biomedics, LLC as the University’s medical marijuana cultivation and production facility operator. Southern announced the selection of its medical marijuana cultivator in September, but was unable to finalize the contract due to protest.

Board of Supervisors approves key personnel decisions; new online academic programs announced (News)
The Southern University System Board of Supervisors today held committee meetings and full board meeting on Feb. 21-22 at Southern University Shreveport. In one of its first actions, the Board approved the extension of the contract of Dawson Odums, head football coach at Southern University Baton Rouge.

The Southern University Ag Center helped McKinley High School students on Monday to finish work on a permanent vegetable garden. The garden will be used to grow seasonal vegetables, perennial fruit trees, bushes, and vines. Fresh produce from the garden will be grown and consumed by the students at McKinley High.
